Fr. Bill’s CD Lyrics

Paintbrush in the Green: Open Wound

(Refrain has my words, verses from “Divine Mercy in My Soul” par. 1321. St. Faustina wrote many poems that would make lovely hymns/songs.)

We behold your open side
Looking on the wound most holy
In its blood and water we are washed and abide
Fount of purest Mercy ever flowing

O most Merciful heart of our Jesus
From you all graces eternally spring
We desire your shelter, refuge of the weak
Only in you is our hope!

We behold your open side
Looking on the wound most holy
In its blood and water we are washed and abide
Fount of purest Mercy ever flowing

Hail compassionate heart of our God
None can fathom this pure fount of love
Life gushing forth, salvation of sinners
Here is the spring ever sweet

We behold your open side
Looking on the wound most holy
In its blood and water we are washed and abide
Fount of purest Mercy ever flowing

Hail open wound, Heart of Christ most Sacred
From which your Rays of Mercy shine
So that your children may come to draw new life
Poured into vessels of trust!

We behold your open side
Looking on the wound most holy
In its blood and water we are washed and abide
Fount of purest Mercy ever flowing

Hail God’s goodness, incomprehensible
A mystery that cannot be measured
Ocean of Mercy, forever holy
Ever attentive and kind!

We behold your open side
Looking on the wound most holy
In its blood and water we are washed and abide
Fount of purest Mercy ever flowing

Hail most merciful throne of the Lamb of God
One perfect sacrifice, dying for me
Teach us to seek you, to bow to you every day
Living in faith profound!
We behold your open side
Looking on the wound most holy
In its blood and water we are washed and abide
Fount of purest Mercy ever flowing!
