Paintbrush in the Green: Ponder, Still

When Simeon said He would be the rise and fall of many
She recognized the Spirit of the Lord
Her child would fulfill heaven’s ancient promise
Then the prophet said her heart would be pierced with a sword

But it was for the Father’s glory
It was all within His will
It is the Virgin Mary’s story
And in her heart she would ponder, still

Another temple journey that had her praying plenty
At Passover they went up for the feast
But coming home, three days her Son was missing
They found him in his Father’s house with all the scribes and priests

So it was for His Father’s glory
It was all within His will
It was a worried mother’s story
And in her heart she pondered, still

But the deepest pain she ever knew was Friday up on Calvary
She really thought her heart would die from grief
God’s greatest deed, they found the tomb was empty
And He ascended to the right hand of our joy and our relief

It was all for His Father’s glory
So we must live within His will
